What Is The Name Of The Line Of Art Deco Style Department Store Jewelry And Hair Accessories ?
From Fashion & Accessories Forum:What is the name of the line of art deco style department store jewelry and hair accessories ? It was called '1924' or something like that. It was first seen during the early 90's and is still being sold. It is all very art deco - a lot of metal, jewels and such. It was sold on white cards with the art deco style font name in black along the top I believe. They sold jewelry and hair accessories. It was sold at the PX on military bases, too.
Answer: There is a brand called 1928 Jewelry, but I'm not sure if that's the one you're looking for.

White Goth Wedding...?
From Weddings Forum:White Goth Wedding...? I've always had a thing for the dramatic and after I chose my dress and my girl's chose their dresses, I realized the contrast between my stark white and their jewel tone indigo and Bordeaux. So I began to read several articles on Billy Martin's wedding and after listening to the score on Corpse Bride decided that I wanted my wedding to have an dark, ethereal feel to it. The Maid of Honor: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/susy-1.jpg The Bridesmaids: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/sujeiry-1.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/Merari.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/MAry-1.jpg {If their chest are bare they will have an amulet necklace and all parties will have jeweled chandelier earrings} such as these foam 1928 Jewelry {these are also the colors}: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/df84_1.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/9697_2-1.jpg And my dress and veil: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/bcv1.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/bride.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/trans5.jpg I'm detailed I know!! I plan to do most things myself. This is the church and the ceremony area {Both already finished but no new pics, sorry}: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/LaViollete/church1.jpg I didn't take a picture of the reception area but its white with tulle and Christmas lights hanging foam the ceiling, we can dim the lights and the tables are round. So after this long introduction, now to my question. I would like an ethereal ceremony and reception with everything white. I am planning to use music scores by some Tim Burton movie's and the Twilight score including Bella's lullaby as well as classical music played throughout the reception. I just need some advice and tips on how to incorporate a ghostly, dark mood into the pure white wedding and reception since I want no color except for the bridesmaids. I would appreciate answers and just in case I am in no way goth nor am pretending to be, I'm just an overly dramatic, over the top young woman who wants to have a beautiful wedding. Thanks in advance for your kind answers...
Answer: Great idea! I love stark white! Use grey tones to add to the white and make it more dramatic. Opt for a live band, live entertainment always adds to the drama of an event. The church looks amazing even in its unfinished state. Use all white flowers for your centerpieces, and go for tall but skinny, or small at the bottom and lavish on top so that guests may still see across the table at each other. Like Calla Lilies (sp?) in a tall flute style vase with long stems. & maybe white/gray river rock and candles or white lists surrounding the base? ((I like that I might use it... I love get tin the creative juices flowing)) Use all white for the invitations with a touch of the colors the Maids are wearing. Get your postage custom made with a monogram. Let me stew on this for a few... I'll be back! [additional details] Insist on "Black Tie" or formal wear, somehow mention what color is preferred - black, white, gray - you can request for a certain attire, but understand that someone will still come in red, or you can just opt for formal wear and go with the flow of the colors everyone is wearing. If you have the cash then go for some awesome transportation. There is a place in my hometown that rents this amazing stretch car that looks vaguely like a Hersey, but its very elegant and has been used in a lot of rockabilly type weddings. Or go for the horse drawn buggy/carriage. For favors go white - or wrap/box in white and tie with a ribbon that matches the wedding party. Maybe something white chocolate, or brushed glass. Sorry if this sound dis-jointed, but I'm just throwing my ideas out there. Make sure that the wait-staff are in the correct attire as well, and decorate all the tables similarly. If you have chair covers go for white with a white/gray/silver bow. & I love your veil! If I had the face/dress for it I'd be opting for something very similar. Great ideas! Congratulations! & Good Luck! -Elle (I'll probably be back again...) Ok... here again! Grand Piano... I mentioned live music, but you can get it all focused around a pianist, depending on your venue they may have a piano available. Very romantic and can bee looked at as classic/dark/goth. Other jewelry options would be pearls, old fashioned I know, but you can dress them up. You can even mix them with the amulet style jewelry you are already looking at. Once again, Good Luck!
I Have An 80'S Party On Saturday. Need Outfit And Food Theme Ideas.?
From Entertaining Forum:I have an 80's party on Saturday. Need outfit and food theme ideas.? Not to make anyone feel out of their age, but I was either an egg, fetus or baby during the 80's and a group of friends are having an 80's themed party Saturday night. I need to find trendy but original 80's outfit ideas. I also have to bring an 80's themed dish. So please enlighten me on trends or ideas you may have, Thanks!
Answer: OK...that's my time. I graduated in 1985. Here is what I wore or got out the door without my mom seeing: Jellies shoes (flats or heels) Candies shoes, Bright clean white Nike's with the blue or red swoop, Reebok's Nine West wooden wedge heeled shoes with ankle straps that cris-crossed and buckled (worn with straight legged jeans and the puffed long sleeved shirts with ruffled fronts) Color block dresses Sleeve-less cotton shirts Leg warmers, torn sweatshirts and braided puffy bands worn around the forehead (Fame/Flashdance look) Straight legged jeans with silky ruffled or lacy shirts (like "Julie" from Valley Girl) Mini, "Scooter" or "Split" skirts - fl aired or straight (jean or any other material) Cotton knit separates in stripes and bright colors (boat neck shirts, ruffled mini skirts) Sleeveless denim jackets and Izod shirts underneath Anything with the Izod alligator or Ralph Lauren Polo logos Capri pants (the straight-legged kind that hit mid calf) Wool plaid skirts, shorts and pants with penny loafers Bold checks Jordache, Calvin Klein, or Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans (ONLY if the logo is the same from the 80's and prominently featured... it was a status symbol) Printed or striped jeans (Bongo jean company) Wooden handled purses with changeable covers Pink and green worn together Baggy neon sweaters with very thick belts The smallest Gucci shoulder style purse with the long strap (blue or brown "G"'s) The small wallet style coach purse with the long strap Fair Isle sweaters, turtlenecks, knee socks and corduroy knee shorts Forenza Pants with large pockets and snapped ankles (From "The Limited") Forenza V-neck shaker sweaters (from the "Limited") Long pastel or neon sweatshirts, black stir-up pants with flat shoes. Tan Chinos/Khakis with Top Sid er shoes (they were flat dark brown shoes with grommets on the sides that had leather laces woven through that came to the front and tied, with the trademark white flat soles) The thrift store look was also polar, but I was never into that. Some at my school were into the punk scene and had their heads shaved on one side and wore safety pins on every thing. Ripped jeans, punk t-shirts and leather jackets Accesories: Hair pulled up and over into a one-sided pony tail Sheena East on style short cut, feathered sharp cutting edge Uneven "Bob" like the lead singer in Swing Out Sister. "Cellophane" hair colors, especially red and golden Chunky large plastic earrings and jewelry. Lots of thin bracelets Large metal hoop earrings Again, anything neon Large plastic hair clips, banana clips 1928 jewelry Laurel Birch earrings (expensive dangle style cats with different colored enameled outlined in gold...another status symbol) Add-a-bead necklaces (Cloissone and gold were popular with my group) Thick belts Lots of long chains Lots and lots of band buttons on your Deming jacket (they were roughly the size of a quarter and featured people like the Clash, U, Stray Cats, Psychedelic Furs, The Go-Go's, anyone popular at the time ------------------------------------------------ As far as food, I have no idea what "80's food" would be, but back then my group ate alto of Little Cesar's crazy bread and pizza slices. Any type of "Mall food" may work. Too bad you can't find some new coke.
What Jewellery Should I Wear With This Dress?
From Weddings Forum:What jewellery should I wear with this dress? My wedding dress: http://www.misquincemag.com/cm/misquincemag/images/H8/1797_B2_PINK_S07-de.jpg http://64.90.162.155/manufcols/alfredangelo/current/zoom/1797_6345_6455_6459_S07.jpg I don't know what would go well with this dress! I would love some suggestions! Hannah
Answer: I think this dress would look beautiful with cameo ea rings like these http://www.amazon.com/1960s-Belle-Jour-Cameo-Earrings/dp/B0071IFRVG/ref=sr_1_58?s=jewelry&ie=UTF8&qid=1337644687&sr=1-58 or these http://www.amazon.com/1928-Jewelry-Vintage-Inspired-Escapade-Chandelier/dp/B002TPQ49U/ref=sr_1_40?s=jewelry&ie=UTF8&qid=1337644767&sr=1-40 and a pearl bracelet like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00383QPU0?psc=1 You could coordinate the necklace with the bracelet and have a pearl necklace or go without a necklace. Either way would look fine. But if you go with a necklace keep it simple since there is such beautiful embroidery on the dress. A gaudy necklace would distract and detract from the beauty of the dress. I chose a 16 inch necklace, because it shouldn't be a long strand of pearls. http://www.amazon.com/Single-Strand-White-Majorca-Necklace/dp/B00383OUNO/ref=sr_1_4?s=jewelry&ie=UTF8&qid=1337645173&sr=1-4

Thoughtful Gift Idea For Girl I Like?
From Christmas Forum:Thoughtful Gift idea for girl I like? I like this girl but I'm 19 and she's 24. She's play the piano, she a ideograph, and she very fashion forward. I want ti get her a Christmas gift that says I like you
Answer: I'd go with a necklace. A necklace is romantic and intimate enough to signal interest and you don't need to know her 'size' in order to buy one. I have some suggestions that are tasteful and age appropriate for someone in her mid-20s. http://www.amazon.com/Flawless-Sterling-Silver-Floating-Heart/dp/B0002D8GFG/ref=sr_1_16?s=jewelry&ie=UTF8&qid=1323980391&sr=1-16 http://www.amazon.com/Sterling-Silver-Blue-Topaz-Pendant/dp/B000NJCSJ4/ref=sr_1_14?s=jewelry&ie=UTF8&qid=1323980391&sr=1-14 http://www.amazon.com/1928-Jewelry-Filigree-Pendant-Necklace/dp/B002NTISTG/ref=sr_1_34?s=jewelry&ie=UTF8&qid=1323980538&sr=1-34 If the necklace doesn't come with a box, buy a nice box to put it in. Good luck!
Anyone Know Where I Can Buy This Hair Clip?
From Weddings Forum:Anyone know where I can buy this hair clip? Hey Guys! I have absolutely fallen in love with this hair clip for my wedding day. Here it is http://s3.amazonaws.com/wedding_prod/photos/2a7fe6eb19115717efe27a883bd52165_s Do any of you know where I could buy it? Thanks :D
Answer: I bought one similar to this at Macy's when I got married three years ago. It was by Monet. The hairdresser had to wire it in my hair, but it looked fantastic. I had my hair swept back and pin curled into a 1930's style do with the clip on the back of my head above the large barrel curls. It was amazing looking. Try Money jewelry and 1928 jewelry. I believe that WNW.1928.com has the hair jewelry too.
Gifts For Bridesmaids?
From Weddings Forum:Gifts for bridesmaids? I want to get my girls some simple, pretty, delicate jewelry to wear for my wedding. I don't have the money to spend like $250 per girl but I don't want to go cheap such as Claire's Accessories. I've looked at Swerves but they are still too expensive. Any ideas of a brand that is sorta in between?
Answer: I got my attendants silver heart lockets, they were lovely and around $50. I like this - http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/12k-Black-Hills-Yellow-Gold-Heart-Locket-Necklace/3427464/product.html Depending how fancy you want - what the dresses are like - I like 1928 style jewellery - this is a nice set, the earrings are below the necklace http://www.1928.com/pages-productinfo/product-112/1928-jewelry-bridal-crystal-fancy-drop-necklace.html This is a simpler teardrop style - http://www.1928.com/pages-productinfo/category-25_125/product-37862/bridal-jewelry-collection-for-the-bride-2028-jewelry-northern-lights-elegant-crystal-tear-drop-necklace.html Some ideas here - I like the floral vine - http://www.receptionfavor.com/bridaljewelry_2.html This is a very classic set - http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=3244&idCategory=0&seq=1&totRecs=1
