What Sensations Are There Outside Of Our 5 Senses?

From Biology Forum:

What sensations are there outside of our 5 senses? It's clear that humans are limited in their ability to process the world with only 5 senses. Does anyone know of other sensations that our senses seem to not be able to process?

Answer: Common is a good one. Lots of people need some...LOL...

Is It Rational To Believe That All Of Reality Is Accessible Through Our 5 Senses?

From Religion & Spirituality Forum:

Is it rational to believe that all of reality is accessible through our 5 senses? or more precisely, through our senses amplified by technology. We know of other life forms with fewer than 5 senses, they have no access to the world we experience. Isn't it hubris to presume we are exempt from a similar limitation?

Answer: Dear brother Michael: no. Some things are 'Transcendental'. Intuition is an example of a sense that does not fit the 5 categories of speech, touch, hearing, sight or smell. Dreams are another example... and I had a very beautiful dreams last night. I 'saw' in one dream a being hoo's head was all light. Now some would say that THAT is an example of sight... but I was not using my 'physical' eyes. I was asleep. Thought is another example of a sense (in a 'sense') we have been gifted with, and yet it has no recognition of a category all of it's own. We use our other 5 senses and more when using thought sometimes. My fingers are feeling the keyboard... my eyes are using the screen to see what I type, my smell is smelling the aromas around me, I feel the ambient temperature, and etc. Some have been 'Gifted' with Telekinesis, Clairvoyance, Telepathy, and other senses which many are not aware of. Do we only have 5 senses? Perhaps that is the case for those oho do not use their other senses, but many exercise their '6th senses' quite often. In conclusion, we would suggest to the readers that there are other 'senses' available and in a sense, they can be classified as 'miraculous'. So do miracles exist? Praise be to our LORD God. in faith and fidelity, your servant, sean p.s. another wonderful question. thank you.

From Photography Forum:

Any ideas on how I could photograph any of the 5 senses or if anyone has done this before? I am planning on photographing the 5 senses and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how I could do this. The images I produce don't have to be obvious as sometimes its better to let the viewer think deeper. Also, if anyone knows of any photographers, painters, sculptures that have produced similar work then i'd appreciate any names :D Thank you!

Answer: Pretty much everything has been done before. I'm sure if you search flickery for senses or five senses you will find thousands of them. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. You just have to try a new approach to it.

What Is The Relationship Between Curiosity And Our 5 Senses?

From Psychology Forum:

What is the relationship between curiosity and our 5 senses? what makes you feel the urge to touch, to taste, to hear, to see, and to smell? and how can you relate curiosity to our basic 5 senses? is curiosity triggers our senses or vice versa?

Answer: Our brains our constantly searching for more information. If we see something we've never seen before like a green cloud we stare at it and wonder whats in it or what it smells like what it feels like. Or something colorful that smells nice, that's two things our brains our attracted to good smell and lots of color so we want to learn more about this object that looks so appealing. So yeah maybe it is curiosity. Our most basic "program" to learn that makes us act in this way.

What Do You Imagine Seeing When You Think Of The 5 Senses (Hearing, Seeing, Touching, Tasting, Smelling)?

From Photography Forum:

What do you imagine seeing when you think of the 5 senses (Hearing, seeing, touching, tasting, smelling)? I am a photographer planning on doing a project on the 5 senses. I want to know what people imagine seeing or feeling when they think of the five senses (hearing, seeing, touching, tasting, smelling). The obvious would be ears, eyes, hands, lips and nose). I am not looking to take an image containing all 5 senses just one or two. My genre of photography is often fashion and portraiture and sometimes abstract. If anyone has any ideas or input to help me I would really appreciate it! Thank you x

Answer: You could try hiding the five body parts containing the senses in a picture. For fashion's sake, maybe an eye for a belt buckle. A hand and arm for a scarf. (Or an animal skin coat; Fax or real.) Noses for shoes. Heavy lipstick or legless on the lips of a model. A furry hat containing animal ears. These are just suggestions, but if you like the idea you can play around with it. Hope this helps!! :)

Which Of Our 5 Senses Do You Feel Is Most Important?

From Other - Health Forum:

Which of our 5 senses do you feel is most important? Which of our 5 senses do you feel is the most important one? If you were missing a sense how would you compensate for it?

Answer: I actually lost most of my hearing two years ago, but can still manage perfectly well and really don't miss it as much as I thought I would. I now rely mostly on lipreading and can pick up ,by body language ,how the person who is talking to me is feeling. It's amazing how people can and do most things with a loss of a sense and it's strange how the body does compensate in a way for different losses. Personally for me the most important loss would be sight as then I wouldn't see my children grow.
