How Can I Remain Awake And Alert When Working 6Pm-6Am Shifts For The First Time? From Diet & Fitness Forum:
How can I remain awake and alert when working 6pm-6am shifts for the first time? I found out that in 2 days time I will be starting a job which requires me to work PM to AM. My sleeping patterns are such that I normally go to bed around midnight and rise around AM. How can I quickly adjust to these new ungodly working hours, and remain alert for the whole shift? Oh, and the job is a taxi driver. Thanks!
Answer: Nice hours, I used to work 5.30am-3pm when before I'd usually go to bed at 3-4am. Best thing to do is to try to get into the habit before you actually start the job. Try not to rely too much on coffee etc, especially if you're going to be cooped up in a taxi for long hours! Other than that I'd suggest taking a notepad or book or something to keep your mind active when you're sitting around waiting for people. Your body shouldn't take too long to adapt really. Good luck with the new job!
What Is The Proof That We Should Not Eat After 6Pm?From Diet & Fitness Forum:
What is the proof that we should not eat after 6pm? I keep hearing all this stuff about how anything eaten after PM is stored as fat, how if you want to lose weight you have to stop eating after PM (or 5 or 7 or 8, whatever). What is this basis for this idea? Thanks!
Answer: That's false!!! What becomes fat is any unused calories. So even if you ate 3000 calories in the morning and your body only needed 1000, you would still have 2000 calories that went to fat. As long as you don't eat more than your body needs, it doesn't matter when you eat it. Your metabolism does not slow at night! It has to exist to continue to run the functions of the body while you are sleeping, like breathing. Your brain even works when you are asleep.....all these functions need energy and calories. What causes fat is too much calories, NOT when you eat them.

Is It Rude Not To Have A Meal At A PM Wedding? From Engagements & Weddings Forum:
Is it rude not to have a meal at a PM wedding? I am going to a wedding on Friday with the ceremony starting at PM. The reception follows at PM with assigned seating and speeches. There will be no meal served just ho rs d'oeuvres and the guests are expected to vacate the reception hall until PM. I have never heard of such an arrangement, is this a new trend? Also do we give a smaller wedding gift as we have to go to some fast food place between ceremony/reception due to time restraints?
Answer: Sugar pie, the gift you give the couple should come from the heart and be based on your feelings of friendship and goodwill towards the couple. What kind of eats you get at the reception has nothing to do with how much money you should spend. Since it's apparent that you really aren't enthusiastic about attending this wedding and aren't that close to the couple getting married, what you ought to have done is sent your regrets when you RSVP'd and skipped the whole thing. FWIW, it is unbelievably rude of a guest who accepts an invitation to any event to criticize the food and drink served by the host and hostess. When you accept the honor of the invitation, as a polite guest you assume that the food and drink you are served will be the best that the host and hostess can provide. If you cannot make that assumption, you shouldn't accept their hospitality.
