How Do You Connect A Windows 98 Laptop To A Dal Modem Without A Ethernet Card?
From Computer Networking Forum:How do you connect a Windows 98 laptop to a Dal modem without a Ethernet card? My dad has a windows 98. I just got done reinstalling windows and would like to connect it to the Internet to get updates. It has a standard Internet port (like the kind for a telephone or Dial-up internet). So I wondering if I could connect my computer (running xp) to the laptop and then connect the Internet to my computer. Thanks in advanced to any help.
Answer: You won't be able to hook up to a broadband connection using an RJ-11 (phone jack). There are a couple of ways you could do this, though. (The answers I list below assume you do not have Wi-Fi capabilities. If you do, that would be the easiest way.) 1. Buy an Ethernet card for the 98 laptop. Then hook up the Ethernet card to the modem, or if your P computer has two Ethernet ports, use a cross-over (not a straight-through) to connect the laptop to the P machine. Then, configure Internet sharing on the P machine, and you're ready to go. Note: If you use a regular (straight-through) Ethernet cable as a direct link between two computers, it will not work. 2. Buy a Wi-Fi card for the 98 laptop, and if you don't already have one, a Wi-Fi router or access point. Then use the Wi-Fi connection.
How Do I Get Windows 98 To Run On My Computer?
From Software Forum:How do I get Windows 98 to run on my computer? I have a Dell Inspiring 1545 which I need to run on Windows 98. Running it virtually is not an option. The reason for this ridiculous request is that my Grandma bought a new laptop, shipped with Windows 7 home premium, and she can't work it, she says she wants Windows 98 back. We need either to find somewhere that sells Windows 98 computers, or to install 98 on this computer.
Answer: I would get P put on the laptop this is better than 98 and uses the same space as windows 7, but is easier to use than 98 or 7. Either get a P CD off EBay or a local computer shop can put this on for you.
How Do I Attach A Stock To My Lippmann 98 Custom Paintball Marker?
From Other - Outdoor Recreation Forum:How do I attach a stock to my Lippmann 98 custom paintball marker? I go a Lippmann 98 custom a couple weeks ago and now I'm upgrading it. I just got a double trigger and now I ordered a collapsible stock for my 98. I just don't know how to attach the stock to the butt of the gun. Help?
Answer: I would start with the rear receiver screws and work your way forward. Unfortunately, unlike the A and the X, the 98 requires that the receiver halves be separated to install a stock. If you have to completely separate the receiver halves, leave the right side on the floor or table. Install the stock and then re-add the left received over it. It should have keep all the internals in place. It may take some time, but don't worry they will go back together. Use your parts schematic inside the manual in case a part becomes free. If you don't have a manual, you can view a PD at Lippmann.com. Hope this helps. Tippmann 98 parts and accessories http://www.rockstartactical.com/Tippmann_98_Mods_s/155.htm
How Much To Sell A Lippmann 98 Platinum For?
From Other - Outdoor Recreation Forum:How much to sell a Lippmann 98 Platinum for? I bought the basic Lippmann 98 platinum a few months ago and only used it once to test it out. It has no scratches, comes in original box and I have a hopper, new 20 oz CO tank, new Mollee plate carrier vest, and woodland digital Cami uniform. Is asking 80 dollars too much for this? Let me know what you guys think.
Answer: No way would you sell it for $150. You can buy one new for that much. $80 is about right for that. Most setups like that with a Lippmann 98 sell between 60 and 100. Most sell at about 70.
How Do I Change A Windows 98 To A Good Gaming Computer?
From Add-ons Forum:How do I change a windows 98 to a good gaming computer? I'm looking to upgrade my Microsoft windows 98 to a gaming computer. I know I need a new mo niter and I need to factory reset the hard rive, but what else is there? I want to change out all the internal components along with getting a TB external hardrive It is a good computer but just a little old. Basically, I'm going to start all over and get all new components but keep the casing.
Answer: Windows 98 is the operating system. It's like the radio in the car. it tells me nothing about the car's performance. OS tells me nothing about the PC's specs. You can have the lousiest junker and still have a 1500 stereo inside. But the other guy's right... If the computer CAME with Win, it's like 10 years old. It's be the equivalent of a car with an factory 8-track player. It'd be obsolete.
Is The Cyclone Feed System Good For The Lippmann 98 If You Dint Have The Response Trigger?
From Other - Outdoor Recreation Forum:Is the cyclone feed system good for the Lippmann 98 if you dint have the response trigger? I'm considering the cyclone feed system for my 98 custom, but do I need the response trigger for it to have any affect? I know I won't get all the features but will it still do something?
Answer: You would be better of with an electronic loader then the cyclone feed. The stock cyclone feed "upgrade" for the 98 is crap, hard paddles and stiff operation. Burns up more air then it should and tends to chop paint. To make it good you have to upgrade your "upgrade". Softer paddles, metal gears and rod, quick exhaust housing, and then it will operate better and not chop paint much. I would recommend an electronic loader like a halo or invert too. I like the invert too Cu's it is cheaper then the halo and is really the same thing but a Lil better drive. Both have quiet operation and will only turn when you shoot, also an electronic loader can operate faster then the cyclone feed can, wont burn up your air, and it can be used on any marker you own or will own.
How Do I Transfer A Windows P Word Document To A Windows 98 Computer?
From Software Forum:How do I transfer a windows P word document to a Windows 98 Computer? The windows 98 laptop doesn't accept the jump drive I usually use to transport documents, but it does accept Floppy Disks, which my windows P doesn't have. I can't exactly email it to myself because the windows 98 doesn't have Internet access. Is there some way I could transfer the document to the laptop? Thanks!
Answer: I'd try to find someone with a computer that has both a floppy drive and a SUB port. Alternatively, you might be able to cable the laptop and the other computer together with a crossover Ethernet cable and just pop the document over. Given the problems of networking Windows 98, though, I'd recommend the first method. Hope that helps.
How Do I Get My Windows 98 Laptop Internet Explorer To Work?
From Laptops & Notebooks Forum:How do I get my Windows 98 laptop Internet Explorer to work? My Windows 98 laptop won't connect to the Internet and has no CD slot, Phone cable slot, or SUB slot. How can I get it to work on the internet?
Answer: wow it is time to upgrade guy.... sorry using win 98 is just not worth the hassle. you can go to eBay and buy a used dell D's or D's for probably under $200 and they are still good laptops.. its what still use. if you are determined to use your 98 laptop then you can verify the network card is communicating via your network cable.. (when plugged into your network there should be lights in the network jack on your laptop that light up to show there is a connection. If not then remove all the networking settings and let Microsoft attempt to configure the settings for use...

From Software Forum:How do I use a virtual floppy image to boot into windows 98 on virtualbox? I have my old floppy image of windows 98 on my computer, and I plan to use virtual box to run it again. But how do I use the floppy image to install Win on there.
Answer: assuming you already created a virtual machine (vm) of type "Windows 98", select that vim in the Oracle VIM Breadbox list; click on Settings go to System and under "Boot order" make sure that "Floppy" is checked and on top of the list go to Storage and click in "Storage Tree"; press the "Ins" key and in the list that pop-ups click on "Add Floppy Controller" select the "Floppy Controller" that appeared in the list and press on the + to the right of it; this will add a diskette icon with "Empty" next to it. click on "Emtpy" and Attribute area to the right click on the icon with a folder and a caret ( ^ ). in the "Virtual Media Manager" window that pops up, click on the Add button and navigate to the directory where your Windows 98 diskette images are stored. double click on the ST diskette image and click on Select in the "Virtual Media Manager" window; click on OK in the Settings windows of your Win 98 vm click on the Start button (Arrow to the right) to boot the Win 98 vim which should boot from the ST diskette.
