What Is The Best Low Cost Airline Out Of Nyc?

From Air Travel Forum:

What is the best low cost airline out of NYC? Gotta get to an important meeting and don't have a lot of money.

Answer: Jet Blue is better than Air Tran. Southwest Airlines doesn't fly from NYC (They fly out of Is lip, Long Island). However... the "low-fare" airlines aren't always the cheapest. Jet Blue is almost always more expensive for me than US Airways or American. Southwest is also usually more expensive. Or if it is cheaper, it's only like $10 or 20 cheaper and I'd have to fly out of an airport an hour away, and it would cost me more than that to get to that airport so it's not worth it. Basically it pays to shop around.

Travelling Around America - Help Needed Please?

From Other - United States Forum:

Travelling around America - Help needed please? Hi all. I am hoping someone will be be able to help me. I am planning a trip to America next year with a friend. We were looking at a round the world flight ticket but this has worked out expensive as we only want to visit America. I have no idea where to look for internal flights in America. We are wanting to spend 3 days in New york then get a bus/drive to Washington DC for 1 day, then fly to Miami for 7 days. Then get another flight to San Antonio in Texas for 3 days, La's Vegas for 2 days, followed by our final flight into LA for 7 days. The questions I am asking are as follows; 1) Do I need to return to New york in order to get back to the UK? 2) Any ideas/suggestions as to a web-site to look for internal flights? 3) Would it be poss able to do some of the connections via train instead of plane? 4) Can you get a kind of open ticket that you can use for several trips via plane? If so, any details? 5) What kind of Accommodation would be the cheapest without spending too much on it. After all, its Just a place to sleep! I thank you all in advance for your replies.

Answer: 1) Do I need to return to New york in order to get back to the UK? >>>> No. Airlines offer an "open jaw" ticket, but you have to ask for one. For example, fly TO New York and fly home FROM Laos Angel es. There are many non-stop flights between both cities and the UK. 2) Any ideas/suggestions as to a web-site to look for internal flights? >>>> Air Tran, Southwest Airlines, and Jet Blue are some domestic "budget" airlines, but their fares are not always better than the major airlines. Ex. http://www.delta.com/ 3) Would it be possible to do some of the connections via train instead of plane? >>>> Yes. The national rail service is Amtrak and they offer passes for international visitors: http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/Page/Collection_Page&c=Page&cid=1081442674004&ssid=65 http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/am2Copy/Title_Image_Copy_Page&c=am2Copy&cid=1093554056423&ssid=566 Note that taking the train from NY to DC will probably be the most convenient option. DC to Miami also has good service. You are probably better off flying between Miami, San Antonio, La's Vegas and Laos Angel es. You CAN travel between the cities by train, but the routes are convoluted and very time-consuming. If you don't mind wandering about then check the route map for Amtrak. Do realize the distances are huge. DC to Miami is 24+ hours on a direct train. if you were to travel from New Orleans to Laos Angel es the trip is 48 hours on a direct train. The nationwide bus service is greyhound, but it is > not < a good option for long distance travel: WNW.greyhound.com 4) Can you get a kind of open ticket that you can use for several trips via plane? If so, any details? >>>> All of the airline alliances offer America passes and you should check with your international airline > before < buying the trans-Atlantic tickets. Ex. http://www.skyteam.com/about/products/america.html 5) What kind of Accommodation would be the cheapest without spending too much on it. After all, its Just a place to sleep! >>>> Another answer mentions: WNW.couchsurfing.com Also consider joining SERVAS: WNW.servas.org Hostels are not as common or usually as good in Europe, but they are around. An example is: http://www.indiahousehostel.com/ Check travel guides for backpackers. They usually offer good advice even if you don't plan to backpack. Hope you have a great trip!
