Do You Need A Credit Card To Redeem An American Airlines E-Ticket?

From Air Travel Forum:

Do you need a credit card to redeem an American Airlines E-Ticket? I bought an airplane ticket on price line for American Airlines, and they gave me a code to redeem an E-Ticket. Somebody told me I may need the debit card I used for the purchase to redeem the ticket, but I plan on closing the account before I fly out. Will this be a problem? Edit: Also, will I need a card to check my bag?

Answer: I would confirm with Price line but many times you do not need to use that card again because the ticket should be paid for. You just use the 6 digit confirmation number to check-in. As for checking your luggage, you will have to pay for that. You can use cash or credit/debit card.

Can You Pay For American Airlines E Tickets With A Savings Account?

From Air Travel Forum:

can you pay for American airlines e tickets with a Savings account? I am going to buy my bf a airline ticket and can I pay with my savings account not checking for American airlines I know there is the western union option but can you buy another persons ticket wit ht he western union option how does it work like when they ask for your info at western union and it doesn't match the ticket...help

Answer: You can buy a ticket for whomever you want to. The airline can care less who is actually paying for the ticket. As long as the information matches the person when they check in for their flight, then you won't have a problem. Airlines accept any form of payment other than the family cow and food stamps! They'll take your money if it comes from a savings account via Western Union or if you found 100,000 pennies under your couch and put them all in Zip Lock bags!

How Long Should It Take For Our American Airlines E-Tickets To Come Through?

From Air Travel Forum:

How long should it take for our American Airlines e-tickets to come through? So I booked flights from NY to Chicago for my 3 friends and me a week ago. I got an email saying it was confirmed and that our e-tickets and a receipt would follow "shortly" well its been a week and no sign. I'm starting to worry a bit, our flights are not for another 3 weeks but I'm leaving for America in a few days and thought I'd have it all sorted by the time I left. Any help on this would be great, What are people's past experiences with AA, how long did your tickets take to come? Thanks! X My credit card has not been charged but I got the email with the "record locator". But it said in that email that it wasn't the actual ticket and that it would follow. I've gone to the AA website and typed in my record locate and my booking comes up. I'm just a bit concerned about the lack of other email.

Answer: Take your record locate, go to AA.com, and enter it on their website under the "view my reservation" feature. If the reservation says that it is ticketed, then all is well with the itinerary, and what you received will be sufficient for your travel. If it says "purchased" or "on request," then the itinerary has not been ticketed yet, and you might wish to call them to find out why. Typically, they do not send the confirmation letter until after the itinerary has been ticketed -- that is usually all you receive from AA (and serves as your receipt as well).
