How Much Does Major League Baseball Pay ESPN To Cover Irrelevant Stories?

From Baseball Forum:

How much does Major League Baseball pay ESPN to cover irrelevant stories? Why does ESPN spend so much time covering irrelevant baseball stories IE. scrub trades when there are much more important stories in sports to cover? It's the freaking off season for crying out loud College Bowls have just kicked off, we're in the middle of the playoff race in the NFL get with the program ESPN!

Answer: MB couldn't pay ESPN enough to affect it's coverage. It's us, the consumer, that pays ESPN by buying products from their advertisers, which is where ESPN makes its living. And through highly-scientific viewer and reader polls, apparently ESPN has decided "irrelevant baseball stories i.e. scrub trades" is what we want. And what we want, we get, because we pay for ESPN's lavish lifestyles and glamour. Think about it: If you ran a business, and going Route A returns you $500 and Route B returns $1,000, where are you going to put most of your efforts?

Are The ESPN Announcers Rooting For The Steele rs Enough For Them To Win?

From Football (American) Forum:

Are the ESPN announcers rooting for the Steele rs enough for them to win? The ESPN announcers are trying their best, but the Steele rs are currently losing 12 to 3 to the E's. Do they need to cheer louder for the Steele rs than they have been?

Answer: I turned the sound off. I can't stand the ESPN announcers. I don't think it matters who says what about whom. The Steele rs look like CRAP tonight.

How Ridiculous Are ESPN And The Way They Manipulate Everything?

From Basketball Forum:

How ridiculous are ESPN and the way they manipulate everything? Lake rs beat the heat, all of a sudden Kobe is MVP, Lake rs are a threat to KC and will come out of the west, clippers are done, the lake rs win the pacific division bilabials, next game lake rs lose to the pistons. ESPN analyst Ric busier suggest they trade Kobe Bryant which is the most absurd thing I've herd since I can remember. Lake rs need trades Balboa. ESPN is the worst source for sports news in my opinion. They are so Hollywood and are all for the $.

Answer: This is difficult to do, but you have to separate ESPN's news shows, like Sports Center, from their opinion shows, like Pardon the Interruption. On the opinion shows, they try to get as many different opinions as possible. The more opinions, the greater chance for an argument, which makes for higher ratings. The news shows should just be a place to get facts. The problem is that when you watch the news shows, they interject a clip about somebodies opinion on the topic. This makes it easy to confuse fact from opinion. It makes ESPN look like they are creating the news instead of just reporting it. ESPN should focus their news programs on just reporting the facts. It would give them more credibility.

Is there a way to access and manage a ESPN fantasy baseball team from the iPhone/itouch? I've look all through ESPN's mobile site and it isn't there. I also checked the app store, and nothing from ESPN came up... It's strange because ESPN has put multiple commercials on TV for managing fantasy baseball teams from a mobile device. Thanks!

Answer: Well I think there's an App for it.. At least there was one for Fantasy Football but it coasted $10 so screw that. I have an touch and I'll tell you exactly what I do. #1 open Safari #2 type ESPN.Go.com into the address bar (NOT SEARCH BAR) #3 click Fantasy as you would on your computer then click Baseball. There you go. Simple as that. It's not the mobile version of ESPN.com but it'll do for checking your fantasy team.

How Many Times Has ESPN Mentioned The Red Sox-Yankees Rivalry Being The Fiercest In American Sports Tonight?

From Baseball Forum:

How many times has ESPN mentioned the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry being the fiercest in American sports tonight? Or most heated, or any other similar phrase. I'm not watching the game myself but I know when they play each other ESPN usually manages to fit about 300 mentions along those lines during their broadcast. Come on Ryan that's not even the biggest college football rivalry, much less the biggest rivalry in all of sports.

Answer: Well, ESPN has to sell its product, doesn't it?
