I Feel That I Am Too Old For Gossip Girl Books, What Books Would Be Great Reads That Are About The Same Theme?
From Books & Authors Forum:I feel that I am too old for Gossip Girl books, what books would be great reads that are about the same theme? I am yrs old and LOVE the Gossip Girl Books and It Girl Books, but they all center around high school kids. I love the same themes of backstabbing, mystery, sex, fashion, high society, and the antics that happen in the books. I am just wondering if there is a series that might be about people that are a little older. Like maybe college age. I am also sad because the Gossip Girl series has basically ended. Which leaves a blank space in my books I normally read. If someone could tell me books that are similar to Cecily Von Ziegesar's writing that would be very helpful. I read alto so I have already read a lot of books. I have read the Devil Wears Prado and the Nanny Diaries and those types of books long before they were movies. Any advice is helpful! P.S. I also would like to start a book club for girls in their twenties but don't really know how to go about it. Any advice on this would also be helpful! I have already read books in the shopaholic series by Sophie. I have also read the books by Louise Dennison about the hilarious tales of Georgia Nicol son. I am more looking for the drama and evils of high society socialites that Gossip Girl is about than light-hearted humor.
Answer: Have you read I Lev sheepdog, by Sophie Kinsella? You can try some book from Sophey Kinsley or Sharon Kr um, they are very similar to what you read now but I think that at 22 years you can read some adult book. Try Shadow game, by Christine feehan: The classified experiment is the brainchild of renowned scientist Peter Whitney and his brilliant daughter, Lily. Created to enhance the psychic abilities of an elite squadron, it can transform their natural mental powers into a unique military weapon. But something goes wrong. In the isolated underground labs, the men have been dying-victims of bizarre accidents. Captain Ry land Miller knows he is next. When Dr. Whitney himself is murdered, Ry land has only one person left to trust: the beautiful Lily. Possessed of an uncanny sixth sense herself, Lily shares Ryland's every new fear, every betrayal, every growing suspicion, and every passionate beat of the heart. Together, they will be drawn deeper into the labyrinth of her father's past...and closer to a secret that someone would kill to keep hidden. Or you can try Jacqueline Carey's books, the first is Kushiel's Dart: A massive fantasy tale about the violent death of an old age and the birth of a new one. Here is a novel of grandeur, luxuriance, sacrifice, betrayal, and deeply laid conspiracies. Born with a scarlet mote in her left eye, Phedra no Delainey is sold into indentured servitude as a child. When her bond is purchased by an enigmatic nobleman, she is trained in history, theology, politics, foreign languages, and the arts of pleasure. Above all, she learns the ability to observe, remember, and analyze. Exquisite courtesan, yet talented spy, she may seem an unlikely heroine... but when Phedra stumbles upon a plot threatening her homeland, Terrie d'Ange, she has no choice but to act. Betrayed into captivity in the barbarous north land of Scald, and accompanied only by disdainful young warrior-priest, Phedra makes a harrowing escape and an even more harrowing journey, to return to her people and deliver them a warning of the impending invasion. And that proves only the first step in a quest that will take her to the edge of despair and beyond.
