Which Company Should I Use To Do My Taxes Online?
From United States Forum:Which company should I use to do my taxes online? For the last few years I'v e used H&R Block to do my taxes but this year I've been hearing a lot about Turbo Tax and I wanted to bring this question here for all of you to answer. I want to do my taxes on line only so which would prefer me to go with H&Rblock.com or Turbo Tax.com? *Keep in mind that I want whichever site has the best deduction questions so the amount I'm going to owe the IRS is less! Thanks! Ok, this always happens... I don't want to hear answers that mean nothing to what I asked.... Simply answer H&R Block or Turbo Tax! That's ALL!!! God you people are annoying!
Answer: I used H&R Block last year. I just did my taxes last night & I used Turbo Tax. I think H&R Block was better because they make it easier for you to review each individual section of your return. Next year I will go back to H&R Block.

Can I Claim Child Care Credit W/O Claiming Him As Dependent?
From United States Forum:Can I claim child care credit w/o claiming him as dependent? I paid daycare expenses for my son last year. I am letting his father claim him as a dependant, BUT I claimed his daycare expenses (only)... is this legal? I was able to do so on Tax Cut this year and last. My son's father and I aren't married, but we live together. My son's father had his taxes done by H&RBlock and was told I can't claim daycare expenses (I PAID!!) if I do not claim him as a dependant. I checked tax cut and the way it's worded says I can claim child care credit on child I am not claiming, Please help.
Answer: If you're living together, you have the choice of which of you claims your son as an exemption, but only that parent can take the associated benefits. If you were NOT living together, you'd fall under the rules for divorced or separated parents, where the non-custodial parent could take the exemption if the custodial parent agreed, but the custodial parent could still take the dependent care credit. But since you're living together, that doesn't apply to you. Sorry - not what you wanted to hear, I know. Tax cut is probably saying it's OK to take because there's nowhere in their program for it to know that you're living together - since you'd file as single, it just assumes that you aren't together. Maybe you claimed it last year and got away with it, and maybe you would this year too - but it isn't legal, and if the IRS ever catches it, you'll have to pay back the money plus interest and penalties, and if they find it on one year, they'll look at previous years also. And the IRS is doing a lot more investigating lately over deductions and credits associated with dependents.

I Filed My Taxes At H&Rblock And The IRS Direct Deposited My Refund Into My Emerald Card.?
From United States Forum:I filed my taxes at H&RBlock and the IRS direct deposited my refund into my emerald card.? They direct deposited it on Friday and it is Sunday and it still hasn't been credited to my account.
Answer: The IRS does not deposit the money onto the emerald card. They IRS deposits it in HR bank so HR gets their fees and the bank deposits it to your card. Why do you think the IRS deposited it onto your card on Friday if that is true how can the money not be there on Sunday?
