I'M Due To Receive A Bonus In July. How Can I Calculate How Much Taxes Will Be Taken Out?

From United States Forum:

I'm due to receive a bonus in July. How can I calculate how much taxes will be taken out? I'm due to receive a bonus in July. How can I calculate how much taxes will be taken out? I live in California. I'm using excel, and am keeping a running total of what my bonus will be. How can I show what it will be after taxes?? If the bonus will put me at a little under 50000, then what bracket will I be at?

Answer: In terms of a paycheck, they will probably withhold 25% for federal (I'm not in California so I don't know the state amount, but I've seen references to 9.3%). This is a flat amount allowed by the IRS. You will also get hit with 7.65% fica/mc. The problem though, is that your bonus isn't an isolated event on your tax return. Your bonus is part of your total income. If your tax bracket for additional money is less than 25%, you'll get a bigger refund at tax time; if your tax bracket for additional money is more than 25%, you'll owe. Get E'S from IRS.gov. The 2007 numbers are close enough. Set up your spreadsheet like I did with fields for the income items you normally have. Then have a TD column and a rest-of-year estimate column. Knowing you gross $50K is worthless. You may be in the 15 or the 25% bracket. Mine is like: wages (cafe plan) (health plan) (401K) interest other income total (stnd deduc) (personal exemption) taxable income estimated tax due total withholding Then I track it monthly. When I sold stock with a hefty gain, I made a choice--send in an estimated payment or a go bump my W-4 for a while (actually I bumped the W-4 by $300 a pay period until I felt comfortable again).

I'M 16 Years Old And I Want To Start Working Out, Where Should I Start?

From Diet & Fitness Forum:

I'm 16 years old and I want to start working out, where should I start? I'm 16 years old, I'm quite skinny and short. I'm 5 foot 6 and I weigh kg. I'm planning to start working out regularly but not over do it. I want to get toned up and gain more muscle mass, how should I start off working out? I want to work on all the muscles in my body but, when I feel like working out I can't decide on what muscles to work on. Can anyone give me ideas on how to make a schedule and a diet plan. I want to mainly use my body weight for these workouts.

Answer: Muscles to work: Biceps Triceps Back(lat) Shoulders Core Chest Legs Biceps: w/ weights- You can do bicep curls, hammer curls and concentration curls. w/out weight- You can perform chin ups on a tree or park swing. Triceps: w/ - Standing over head triceps press, triceps kickbacks. w/out - Close hand push ups Back: w/ - Bentover(90degrees) dumbbell rows and Slightly bent over dumb ell rows w/out - Wide hand pull ups Shoulders: w/ - Shrugs, side raises, front raises and standing shoulder press w/out - shoulder push ups, hands waist level push ups Core: Planks, side planks and crunches Chest: w/ - (Wide hand) bench press/fly, incline bench and dips w/out - Wide hand push ups, incline push ups and decline push ups Legs: Squats, lunges and mountain climbers [all exercises can be seen in go ogle images] Arnold Schwarzeneger(heard of him? Inspiration) said, "One of the most important reasons why a chest back super set program works so well is the fact that most chest exercises are pushing movements, while all back exercises are pulling exercises. The chest muscles are resting during the lats exercise and the lats are resting during the chest movement. While each muscle is alternately resting and working, it stays fully flushed and pumped up.... When the chest and upper back are pumped simultaneously, there is an indescribable feeling of growth stimulation and massiveness." This can be applied to Chest/Back, Bicep/Tricep, Legs(I'm not a pro. I don't know the names xD). So, your workout should look a little something like this: Day 1: Chest and back Day 2: Legs and core Day 3: Arms and shoulders Day 4: Chest and back Day 5: Legs and core Day 6: Arms and shoulders Day 7: Active rest(30-60 minute walk) In the morning, breakfast. Pack in the protein. Try to get around G a day, but if you find recovery takes too long, increase it by 5 each week until your recovery rate is fine. What to have? Eggs, bacon, milk, peanut butter on toast... What ever. There are more protein sources, but you don't want breakfast to turn into a dinner. I also suggest having two pieces of fruit. Orange, banana, plum etc. Some people tend to forget about full nutrition. Vitamins and minerals found in fruits and vegetables are essential for allowing your body to work at maximum efficiency. After breakfast, go for a brisk walk for 15 minutes. This will get your blood flowing through your muscles and loosen them up. On this walk, you can start stretching your arms. The workout: How many reps? I suggest trying to do pyramid sets. Start at 14, then knock down by 2 each set until you get to 6 reps. That's a total of 5 sets each exercise. The principles of training state that to get the most benefit from an exercise, you must use implement PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD and RECOVERY. Progressive overload is when you constantly add resistance over time. So, you would lift with heavier weights, or carry a weighted bag. (for weightless exercises) Recovery is the time you let your muscles rest. You workout has you doing something every day, but they're different muscle groups. This should be enough to get you started. Good luck.

I'M Thinking About College, And Need To Find Out About Grants Or Student Loans. Where Do I Start?

From Financial Aid Forum:

I'm thinking about college, and need to find out about grants or student loans. Where do I start? I'm thinking about enrolling in Purdue University here in Indiana where I work as a custodian. I'm currently planning on going for a Masters or PhD in Archaeology and wondering if there may be a site on line that would have info to help people like me get financial aid. I'm also curious about grants. If I must go with a student loan, is there a site that might help me with what I should look for?

Answer: If you work at that school, you can probably take classes for free. I know the schools I have worked at let full time employees and sometimes the spouses and children take classes at no charge. Review your employee handbook or look on line at your human resources page because you probably can go for free! Isn't that great news? Whoo-hoo, I'm jealous!

I'M Looking At A 3 Year Old Warm blood. At What Age Is It Safe To Start Her Training Under Saddle?

From Other - Pets Forum:

I'm looking at a 3 year old Warm blood. At what age is it safe to start her training under saddle? I'm worried about causing problems with her hocks, if I start her too soon. She's a Percheron/Thoroughbred cross.

Answer: you can start her now, but take it slow and give her plenty of time to get used to what your asking of her. If you try to fill her head too quickly she might get a bit frazzled and confused. Wait until you can both do one thing with great ease, then move onto the next thing. One other thing that I think is really important at her age is fun. Make sure that she is enjoying being ridden. Don't forget to take her to the beach or the trail every now and then for a bit of relaxation time. As far as hocks go, as long as you don't go too hard too fast, she should be OK. Don't do too much jumping either, I'm told that puts alto of pressure on the hocks. Good Luck :)

What Is The Value For M, And How Do You Solve The Equation Showing Work?

From Physics Forum:

What is the value for m, and how do you solve the equation showing work? A mass m at the end of a spring vibrates with a frequency of 0.88 Hz. When an additional 680-g mass is added to m, the frequency is 0.60 Hz. What is the value for m, and how do you solve the equation showing work?

Answer: After a whole bunch of math my physics book says that w^2 = k/m. Yours probably does too. So, what to do with it? .88^2 = k/m .60^2 = k/(m+680gm) From the ST one, k = (.88^2)*m. You can solve the ND for m from here. Work: W = F*d = -k*d^2

How Fast Does A 290 M Spaceship Move Relative To An Observer Who Measures The Ship'S Length To Be 190 M?

From Physics Forum:

How fast does a 290 m spaceship move relative to an observer who measures the ship's length to be 190 m? How fast does a 290 m spaceship move relative to an observer who measures the ship's length to be 190 m?

Answer: That means γ = 290/190 = 1.53 γ = 1/√(1–V²/c²) = 1.53 1–V²/c² = 0.429 V²/c² = 0.571 V/c = 0.755 V = 2.26e8 m/s .

What Is M Squared And M Cubed In The Ways Of Construction?

From Mathematics Forum:

what is M squared and M cubed in the ways of construction? My dad said M squared was the floor or a flat surface or whatever and M cubed is like the depth of something like an ice cube is this right? could someone please explain it a little further and maybe give me some examples? thanks!

Answer: M squared is M*M, for example 3*3, because you only have two sides of the object, like a piece of paper, the width and depth. M cubed is M*M*M, for example 3*3*3, because the object has three sides, like a box. the depth, the width and height.
