What is the deal with the news being so unfocused on real news? The big news stations are so concerned about the "hulk Hogan" story, and these celebrities, and what ABMs Wei is wearing, and frivolous matters, and they will take up hours and days for these stories, but when a real news story is aired; it is aired for ten minutes during the afternoon, and is never hear ed of again....WHY is this? Does this only bother me, or are their others who have seen this and are concerned?

How Do I Contact National TV News Channels When I Have Really Important News?

From Media & Journalism Forum:

How do I contact national TV news channels when I have really important news? A while back I came across what I considered extremely important news and wanted to let national TV news channels know, most specifically thinking of CNN or even MS NBC, but could not find anywhere I could "click" for lets say "news tips", "contact us", "urgent news", or similar. It may sound silly but there are some things sometimes people feel better telling it to news mediums than police or other authorities. Why? Well because news people are always willing to hear and listen to what you can explain to them in an intelligent way. Most of the time authorities tend to make their own judgement without you finishing your story. Or worse yet cut you off telling you "let proper authorities handle it". I have no idea how any news channel would have reacted to what I thought was something odd and a bit complicated, thus making it important in the world situation we now have. But just in case I come across something like that I want to tell someone immediately, in strict confidence.

What News Program In The USA Incorporates Pressing American Affairs And International Affairs?

From Current Events Forum:

What news program in the USA incorporates pressing American affairs AND international affairs? I just moved to the US and I'm having trouble finding international and national news merged into one show. I just want the traditional news where the anchor reads the introduction, he/she talks about it, a video is shown and she just moves onto the next story. I dont' want a discussion show, just traditional news :) Thank you. Please tell me what channel the show is on and what time as well as the timezone you're referring to. Thank you!

Answer: The big three are CNN, MS NBC and FOX News. Might have to switch among these and tune in to local news to get the customization that you what.

How Do You Feel About Our Big News Media Channels Giving News Information On A Left/Right Wing Basis?

From Media & Journalism Forum:

How do you feel about our big news media channels giving news information on a left/right wing basis? I personally feel that MS NBC and CNN give news in an unbiased manner, but I have noticed that a lot of conservatives believe differently. I have noticed Fox news anchors give Jon Stewart a hard time based on his show, even though it isn't a news show and have watched some of them admit that they give their news based on their right wing beliefs. I don't think any news show should give out news based on their own personal beliefs. How do you feel about this?

Answer: Actually our biggest news media outlets are the local affiliates of the big three ABC, NBC, and CBS. More people get there news there than on any cable news outlet.

From Other - News & Events Forum:

What is the best on line news website that gives the top stories of the day? I enjoy reading Reuters and Yahoo News but I want a website that will give me the most important news stories from the entire day, not the most recent breaking news. I want something like an on line newspaper for US and international news.

Answer: CNN gives the breaking news on the first page; however, if you click on the "World" or "U.S." tabs, you will get the top stories of the day without the breaking news stuff that you don't want. You can also click find information from previous days. http://www.cnn.com/US/

How Do You Get Your News Articles On A Search Engine Newsfeed?

From Media & Journalism Forum:

How do you get your news articles on a search engine newsfeed? If you publish a news article on line, how do you get it to be on the top results of a search engine news section?

Answer: How Do You Get To The Top of Go ogle News? 1. That’s the question on the minds of pretty much everyone in the news industry. And that’s the question Tim Ruder, Neil Phrasing and I were discussing when we came up with the idea for the Go ogle News’ Ranking Factors Survey. The SE community has been pretty open about sharing information on how Google’s various algorithms work – SEOMoz’s Search Engine Ranking Factors Survey and David Mihm’s Local Search Ranking Factors Survey are two great examples. But when it comes to ranking in Go ogle News, there has been surprisingly little discussion out in the open. So we thought it was high time to ask the SE Os who work on some of the world’s top news sites including NY Times, CNN, , ABC News, ESPN and more to give up the goods. The results of the survey are listed on the left-hand Navy of the site. We have broken the various factors we asked about into different categories (e.g. Publisher Authority) and provided rankings of the top factors in each category along with “OpEd” commentary from the participants. We have also summarized the top 10 most important ranking factors and the top 10 most negative. 2.Top 10 Most Important Go ogle News Ranking Factors 3.check out the rest at THE ULTIMATE GO OGLE NEWS RANKING REPORT

How Do Local Papers Find Out About Local News, Sports, And Business Without Getting A News Tip?

From Media & Journalism Forum:

How do local papers find out about local news, sports, and business without getting a news tip? You see your local news and local sports news and local business news etc in a local paper. WHO finds out about them if the paper doesn't get a news tip? 10 points to the most knowledgeable!

Answer: They are contacted by the news makers, typically. They have well developed contacts w/ police, so they get reports from them on daily crime, they get in free to events and are actually invited to them by promoters who also advertise in the event ... Of course they have people listening to scanners and such for instant crime reporting, they go to city council meetings, grand openings ... long story short, they are established within the community they serve and the community makes sure they know when things are going on so it can be covered in the news and they combine these daily occurrences w/ reporters timely coverage of crime or reporting in depth on what has tipped them off.

What Is A News Report That Has Mislead The Public?

From Media & Journalism Forum:

What is a news report that has mislead the public? Too keep a story short, I need an example of a news report or article that is misleading. I am in a debate, debating against the media exaggerating stories, one of the arguments being that exaggerating a story could be classified as misleading, leading to one sides opinions from the public. So what is a news report (must be true), that has been misleading to the public. Thank you for answering.

Answer: The story on CNN this morning on Hillary and tomatoes & shoes thrown at her which was not accurate. Al Jeers discounted that nonsense and only reported the actual news. CNN is now only tabloid, provocative teasers & no longer news. Much of what passes for news in the USA is now opinion of the talking heads who are not performing their due diligence. Reporting by repeating & repeating unconfirmed information is bad but to then to nicker & comment is unprofessional. What passes as American TV is only poor uninformed nonsense, titillation & misleading.
