How Do You Critique Poems About Rejection And Love Gone Wrong?

From Poetry Forum:

How do you critique poems about rejection and love gone wrong? So many of the poems posted here are filled with angst and pain over being rejected. How do the rest of you deal with this?

Answer: In my opinion a poem has to have rhythm and rhyme to be good. If they are heaped with pain I usually don't comment about it.

What Are Some Magazines That I Could Publish My Poems And Other Short Stories To?

From Books & Authors Forum:

What are some magazines that I could publish my poems and other short stories to? See, I tried to get my poem Scabby published to Stone Soup Magazine, but they didn't reply so that meant no. And I WAS going to just publish a book of poems myself, but my mom told me that I should publish a few of those poems and THEN get an agent and blah blah blah. So, If you could, what are some websites to magazine places that I could publish some of my poems/short stories to? THANX!

Answer: For information on journals that publish poems, look at the book "Poet's Market." For information on journals that publish short stories, try the book "Writer's Market." Your local library might have copies. http://www.poetsmarket.com/ http://www.writersmarket.com/ Your mother is right that you need to establish a track record of magazine publications before you think about publishing a book of poems. But don't expect that it will be easy to get an agent for a poetry book. Agents make their money by taking a percentage of their clients' earning. Poetry books usually earn so little money that they're simply not worth an agent's time and attention.
