What Is It About Religion And Politics That Evokes So Much Passion And Anger?
From Other - Society & Culture Forum:What is it about religion and politics that evokes so much passion and anger? You pretty much can talk to a person about anything, but when it comes to religion and politics...watch out! It's never takes long for the conversation to get heated. Seriously though, what is it about these two topics that evoke more passion and anger from people than most others?
Answer: I'm quite sure it's because they are world changing opinions. Most people take these topics seriously. Equally, both are based in morals and beliefs. You can like or dislike a movie or certain type of music without it challenging your beliefs. You simply do not have a taste for whatever that something is. But to challenge someone's religion or political view is to challenge their base morals. It is almost like you are challenging the person's existence, in a way.
What Is The Similarity Between Religion And Politics?
From Religion & Spirituality Forum:What is the similarity between Religion and Politics? According to what I had read, you should tried to avoid talking Religion and Politics. Yes I believe we ought to refrain from talking Religious issue because we ought to respect each other's opinion but Politics...it was blurred on my mind
Answer: I think the similarities would be that misinterpretation leads to extreme beliefs in other words blind faith. For example, in Christianity, Jesus never intended to create a new religion. He simply wanted to reform the Jewish faith and to bring the Jews closer to God. Where in the Bible did he say to form a new religion? Yes Jesus said to Peter to build a church but not a religion. It was his followers who did but since many Jews themselves don't believe in Jesus well I guess the apostles had no choice. Then, hundreds of years later, Christians have done the same mistakes as the Jews did. In politics, communism was never intended to be a dictatorial rule. But Stalin implemented this style and then whole world was taught that communism is evil. There are no greater freedom in communist countries yes but at least their citizens enjoy good social services which the rival US particularly lacks of. 90% of Cubans are literate. So what we rather hate is Stalin ism not communism. But the most clear extreme political belief would be of the Nazis, and I don't need to mention the SS. Taking these two contexts, believing too much without using common sense can lead to irrational extreme beliefs. Zealots and patriots have this in common. We can see religion and politics collide particularly in Northern Ireland and Israel. Bottomline, why do we blame religion alone for the conflicts when politics is equally guilty of it? God did not specifically ask us to kill non-believers, Marx and Engels never wanted a dictatorial style leadership. It is not the fault of religion or politics, it is essentially humanity's fault but we hardly admit this mistake. Edit: I forgot to mention, there are many more similarities between the two such as power abuse. I just pointed out the extreme fanaticism since it is clearer..
How Are Religion And Politics The Same Thing?
From Philosophy Forum:How are religion and politics the same thing? My uncle has told me that religion and politics are basically the same thing. I asked him to explain, but he simply gave me the caps lock argument, which didn't help at all.
Answer: G They both deal with promises that are fulfilled in a perfect land which the individual will create by supporting the speaker. They both rely on the use of the primary human delusion, namely that, although our minds know it, our eyes can't see that all humans are connected and interdependent. The coreligionists proclaim hell for the different ones. The politicians provide it. If you would transcend their machinations, you can.

Why Do People Want Religion And Politics To Intertwine?
From Religion & Spirituality Forum:Why do people want religion and politics to intertwine? I'm noticing now that many people base their political beliefs on their religious beliefs. I'm 14 and don't have a religion myself, and I don't see why people would want these two explosive substances to combine. Take, for example, gay marriage and abortion. I'm liberal, and I don't see why people don't want gay people to marry just because it doesn't agree with their point of view. Why restrict the lives of people because you don't agree with it? As my dad's said before, "If you don't want abortion, don't get one." So why do people think religion and politics should be together?
Answer: Politics has a foundation on morality. Morality is based on religious principles. Even politicians say they want to do the 'right' thing. The only question that remains is this 'right' thing based on a morality found in the author of what is right-'n-wrong? (Bible or religions) Prior generations of politicians doled out money for un-wed women having babies. Was this right? Now we've 5 times the number of these types of people. And the taxpayers and the children are the victims. BTW: The mantra "If you don't want abortion, don't get one" was first used by the slave-holders. Swap out 'abortion' and drop in 'a slave'.

I need to write a 8 page paper for my religion and politics class i need help finding a good topic it can honestly be about anything that relates to both religion and politics anywhere in the world i need help finding an interesting topic that will have lots of information on it thanks!
Answer: Andrew. I would think a good topic, would be relative to a Christian being a politician. Some people might think that the term "Christian Politician" is an oxymoron. But realistically a Christian might choose to be a politician. I knew personally a very fine Christian who became the Mayor of Mobile Alabama, His name was Lambert Mi ms. He chose to be a politician because he wanted to show the community that a Christian could be a politician. Now he did not become Mayor for that reason, obviously he wanted to do the best he could for the city of Mobile. But in so doing he would in turn show the city, his Christian faith, and how it could work for the city. He was not without problems, however. He took some bad advice regarding a facility that would recycle garbage. Some of the people in the planning of this facility were indeed, crooks. When the plot was uncovered, he was charged with the entire group. A professional politician who was at that time a judge, chose to try the group together, and not let individuals be tried separately. Had they been tried separately, Lambert Mi ms would not have been found guilty, but since Lethe group was found to be guilty, he went to prison with the rest of them. He never lost his faith in God, and witnessed for the Lord while in prison. He wrote a book entitled "Mayor on a Mission". It tells how he was horribly convicted, and it tells of his prison experiences. It is a good read, I highly recommend it. A politician is not necessarily a Christian, and a Christian is not necessarily a Politician, but both can be. I have of tern wanted to run for some office, but lacked the personal and financial backing. They say that "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I am not sure that is always the case, but I have no experience from which to support my theory. Can a Christian be a politician. I believe you could write 8 pages on the possibilities. You might want to call a local Christian church, and ask if any of their members are politicians. Tell them what you are doing, and I will bet they know someone for you to call and set up an interview. I wish you well, and would love to see your finished project. You could e mail me at lutherd@standardequipmentco.com. Best of luck. and God Bless.
