I'M Seeking For A Recommendations For A Vineyard In Na pa Valley To Bring A Picnic Lunch?

From San Francisco Forum:

I'm seeking for a recommendations for a vineyard in Na pa Valley to bring a picnic lunch? A friend suggested V. Sarto in St. Helena but just found out they do not allow you to bring your own food - you gotta buy it there. We are bringing our own. Any suggestions? We are coming from San Jose and driving up for the day. Our first stop will be to have our picnic lunch, then going on to a few more vineyards to do tastings and enjoy the scenery. If you also have recommendations for a few scenic vineyards I'd like that too! Thanks!

Answer: I started to recommend V. Sarto Winery until I saw the details of your question. You can find a map with links to wineries with picnic areas here: http://www.napavintners.com/maps/map_of_napa_wineries_picnic_areas.asp

Anyone Know A Great Place To Have A Small Wedding Ceremony In Napa/Sonoma Valley Area?

From San Francisco Forum:

Anyone know a great place to have a small wedding ceremony in Napa/Sonoma Valley area? We want to stay at a B&B-type place attached to a vineyard. It will just be us and possibly 2-4 guests. There are so many places to look at on line... So I was wondering if anybody had some personal experience or had heard of a place that met this criteria. Thanks!

Answer: Due to some odd regulation that dates back to the middle ages, no wineries are allowed to perform weddings. Only one winery, the V. Sarto winery in St. Helena, is exempt from this rule (I have no idea where the rule originated). If it is a small wedding, this might be your place. http://www.vsattui.com

What Madeira Wine Do You Like?

From Beer, Wine & Spirits Forum:

what Madeira wine do you like? Why do you like it.

Answer: To be honest, my favorite Madeira is probably the one made by the V. Sarto winery. I like it because, quite simply, it's an excellent Madeira. The alcohol is still as high as any other type of Port (which is what a Madeira really is), and it comes with all the thick sweetness you would expect out of a Madeira, but it goes down more smoothly than any other Madeira or Port I've ever had. It's good to cook with, it's great to drink with your dessert and not so sickly sweet it makes your dessert taste under sweetened, and just great as a sipping Madeira if that's what you're looking for. If you want to know more about V. Sattui's winery and their wines (you can only buy their wines from the winery itself, though they do ship for customers who cannot get to their winery), you can find them at WNW.vsattui.com. Oh, and if you're looking for a rose wine that's actually worth drinking and not using to torture your enemies like most white Zions, check out their Gamay Rouge... there's no other way to describe it except to say it's brilliant.

What Is The Best Sand which Shop In Na pa Valley?

From San Francisco Forum:

What is the best sand which shop in Na pa Valley? I heard this one place is the greatest, but do not know the name?

Answer: OK, see if any of these ring a bell. 1. Pittas Deli (Industrial Way, Napa) 2. Ge nova Delicatessen (Trancas, Napa) 3. Oak ville Grocery (Oakville on Hwy 29) 4. V. Sarto Winery (St. Helena on 29) And that's in order of how I like my sandwiches.

Willow! Northern California Locations Help!?

From Weddings Forum:

WILLOW! Northern California locations HELP!? Hey willow I am the one looking for an affordable wedding in No. California. We are looking in the Na pa Sonora area. BUT I am open. Our favorite place was V. Sarto Winery but for a wedding of 25 they wanted 3200.00 and that did not include catering (which took it to around 5000.00). We like historic looking buildings and luscious parks. We are looking to get married in the Fall because of all the colors. My yahoo id is fragiler I would appreciate the suggestion...if you are not willow and have suggestions I will take those too! http://www.vsattui.com/ also love http://www.hartleybotanica.com/

Answer: http://www.depothotel.com/weddings.html (Historic building, not sure of the prices though) http://www.dawnranch.com/weddings.htm http://www.markwestlodge.com/intimate/ (This would take up most of your budget, but it seems to include almost everything!) http://www.innatoccidental.com/weddings.htm And like I mentioned before, Ca'Bianca is great. http://www.cabianca.com/ You could rent the site ($950) and feed all 25 guests a 5-course dinner (approx. $1800, which includes the tax and tip). Total = $2750. That leaves you plenty for wine, flowers, etc. And the building is beautiful.

Planning A Visit Soon- Anyone With Wine Country Tips?

From San Francisco Forum:

Planning a visit soon- anyone with Wine Country tips? I'm headed up North (I live near SF) to the Na pa Valley for some wine tasting with some visiting friends. Problem is- I've never been! I've heard of a few places that you have to see when you're up there- that great Italian castle (Castello Di Amorosa) is a must, as is the V. Sarto winery that features the great gourmet deli and outdoor picnic area. Besides those obvious stops, what are some other good bets as far as wineries? Other places of interest we may hit are the Coach outlet nearby (what woman doesn't love Coach?) and maybe dinner at the Iva Traitors in downtown Na pa. If anyone can suggest a few other stops, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you.

Answer: Take a look at this website for info on wineries and places to eat. You can also print free wine tasting coupons here: http://www.cheers2wine.com. The tour at Castillo Di Amorous is very interesting. Reservations are required. It's owned by the same family as V. Sarto. Sterling Vineyards is another unique stop. You ride an aerial tram up the hill to the tasting room. After a self-guided tour (which you could skip), you are seated at a table and served a flight of wine. Hess Collection is fun. They have an interesting modern art museum. Best view: Domain Carneros Best dining with a view: Aubree Du Solely (make reservations to dine outside & enjoy a fabulous view)

From San Francisco Forum:

places to get married in Nap valley? i'm looking for places to get married in the Nap valley. please don't tell me hotels or churches. I want actual names please. did you get married here in the valley? Also I want a outdoor ceremony.

Answer: Most people seeking to get married in Na pa imagine being wed on a vineyard or winery, unfortunately, Na pa Country has prohibited wedding taking place on agricultural lands. Only a few select wineries have been deemed appropriate for wedding per Na pa County. Some of the more "well known" places couples get married at here in Na pa are the following. I'll throw in those winery's too. "Meadowood Na pa Valley" - Upscale Estate located on the ea tern hills. Beautifully ceremony area with view of the fairways and wooded hillside. "The Harvest Inn" - Beautifully landscaped property with a outdoor terrace looking out over vineyards and the Magmas Hills. BV Gardens. BB (Beaulieu Winery) is a beautiful escape and defiantly the ho test place in Na pa to get married these days. V. Sarto Winery. An older winery who received awards annually for their wines and food have a beautiful property and conquering view of the vineyards. Auberge Du Solely. Another fine resort focus in a french theme. They have a wonder area overlooking to valley as they are tucked up on a hill in the central part of the Na pa Valley. Napa Seventh-Day Adventist Church. A beautifully designed church with very tall vaulted ceilings and a impressive sound system with house a large amount of guest and can also accommodate your guests for a reception. I hope that helps! I would also recommend the first re feral on the Nap valley Wedding planning. she does a fantastic job.

Best wineries in Na pa and Sonoma? We'll be traveling to CA from the Midwest. We plan on stopping in both Na pa and Sonora. What are the best wineries in each?

Answer: Napa- that great Italian castle - Castillo DI amorous. A real Nap valley must see winery. http://www.castellodiamorosa.com/index.cfm?method=homepage.showpage another great place- the V. From San Francisco Forum:

marin county wine tasting? I've never been wine tasting and would love to drive up to Marin County for a date with my boyfriend. How do I go about planning?

You can find a list of wineries in both of these areas along with info on each winery at http://www.cheers2wine.com. From San Francisco, it's easy to do a day trip to the Wine Country or you could stay overnight. Pack a picnic to enjoy during the day....cheese, fruit would be a great treat.
