How Do I Completely Eliminate Windows Media Player From My Computer?

From Software Forum:

How do I completely eliminate Windows Media Player from my computer? I recently accidentally activated the Windows Media Player on my computer, and now when I download music (legally) the only way my song will play is through Windows Media Player. I do not like Windows Media and I want the songs to play on my tunes, so I can listen to them on my pod. I have tried to get rid of it but all I really manage to do is delete the shortcut. Any words of wisdom? Thank you!

Answer: click on my computer, and navigate to your "c" drive. find a folder called program files and double click on it. near the bottom will be a folder named windows media player. right click on it and select delete. p.s. if it says "cannot delete file because it is currently in use" restart your computer and while it is rebooting, continually press F. a screen will pop up. select safe mode. when it has booted up repeat the steps in the paragraph above. after restart your computer again and there should be absolutely no trace of windows media player ever again(unless you install it again)

Answer: Hi dude, To install WPM go to control panel and open "Add or Remove Programs" window, from the left pane in this window select "Add/Remove Windows Components", in next window ("Windows Components Wizard) unchecked "Windows Media Player" from Component's list and press Next button, To re-installing you can recheck this check box from the same location as above, but remember that Windows original CD will be needed to re-install WPM after clicking Next button. good luck...

How Can I Transfer Music From Windows Media Player To Tunes Or Limewire?

From Music & Music Players Forum:

How can I transfer music from windows media player to tunes or limewire? I have songs from windows media player and it has the CD picture next to it and stuff and I really want it on tunes and lime wire because I want to make a video with the song and I can't get it off of lime wire or tunes so this would be the only way. I tried to drag the song to tunes and lime wire but no luck. is there any way of doing this? if there is please give simple directions because i'm kind of slow. Lil.

Answer: "I have songs from windows media player" No you don't. WPM is a program that plays music - it is not actually a source of music. There's no crime in not being tech/media savvy, but when you try and juggle tech terms that you simply don't understand, you risk the very integrity of your PC. "i tried to drag the song to tunes and lime wire but no luck" Big surprise. Here's a tip, whenever you're unable to do something, you need to say more than "no dice" or "it just dioesn't work - IE, I simply can't. It's what DOES happen that offers the clue to your problems. Next problem - why do you have Limewire? It's a horribly over hyped program. All it's supposed to do is allow sharing media over a network between users of the program. There are better peer-share options (esp. winmx) which are at least as good with music, and utterly destroy LAW in terms of video downloads. That's not even going to the risk of virus infection that comes in every box of LAW. If you have LAW on your computer, your PC may already be irreversibly infected. I gave LAW a try last winter; even though I had Kasper sky IS and Spy bot to boot, my 4 yr old PC was irreparably hosed. Also, it's unclear what you are asking, beaus your question says both "i really want it on tunes and lime wire " and "i can't get it off of lime wire or itunes" Are you trying to get it on LAW & tunes or FROM those programs. I'd re post this question with a more basic idea of what you want to do and what media you want to do it with.

How Can I Move A Photo From Windows Media Player To My Pictures Folder?

From Attachments & Photos Forum:

How can I move a photo from Windows Media Player to My Pictures Folder? Somehow I downloaded my photos to Windows Media Player. I want to move or copy them to My Photos or Windows Photo Gallery? Can I do this, and if so, how?

Answer: The computer automatically takes all unknown applications to Windows Media Player, so it wasn't your fault. All you have to do is find the Windows icon in the bottom left corner of your computer screen. Click on this and in the box where it says Search Programs and Files, click there and type in the name of your photo. It usually has something to do with the date it was taken, so it will be easy to find. Once you find it, DON'T CLICK IT, RIGHT CLICK IT! I cannot stress that enough. One of the options will say Properties. Click on this, and then under type of file it will say Open With: Windows Media Player. Press the change button right next to that and click Windows Photo Viewer. Click OK and exit. Open up the file, and it should work!

From Software Forum:

How do I get windows media player in windows 7 to play music properly? OK, so I'm trying to listen to some music through Windows Media Player in the newly installed Windows 7 OS. Yesterday it worked fine, but today it plays about 5 seconds of music then stops for about 10 seconds before playing another 5 second snippet so on & so on. Answer: Windows Media Player reports your music to Microsoft, who might have detected it's pirated or something. Use the free LC instead, or use tunes. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ http://www.apple.com/itunes/

How To Save The Video In Windows Media Player After Graphic Equalizer Enhancements Have Been Made?

From Music & Music Players Forum:

How to save the video in windows media player after graphic equalizer enhancements have been made? I opened a video with the windows media player and adjusted the sounds with the graphic equalizer enhancements. I want to save the video file with the sound adjustments so I can use the modified version elsewhere. However, when I extracted the audio from that video again, the sound was back to default. What should I do if I want to extract the NEW audio from the video? Thanks!

Answer: You can't, it simply will not work that way. Windows media player just wont let you do anything of that nature. Really the only way to do so, would be to get a male to male 1/8 stereo headphone connection and plug one end into your speaker port and another into your microphone port, then as your play the video back after you've adjusted the sound, you would need to record it in the windows sound recorder or some program that will allow you to record such as sound forge, audacity or the such. After that, save the file, and there you have your adjusted audio,
