Y!mLite Question? I just downloaded the Y!mLite, and for some reason it won't let me listen to voice. On a rare occasion it will, but for the most part, it tries to connect and then just disconnects. Why?

Answer: Y!mLite is not a Yahoo! program, nor was it created by a company with any affiliation with Yahoo!. Such problems are to be expected as Yahoo! adapts it's own programming to keep such programs from using their system. It could also be an issue with your settings, especially firewall ones. If the site you downloaded from has any FAQ or Help Pages, or if the Y!mLite has a Help link I suggest you try those.

Answer: You basically can't. Even the best "boot protection" has its flaws. At one time, taking an older version into the chat rooms was a good way to keep most of the bootees from knocking you out of chat rooms. You'd simply lag (slow down to where you couldn't use the mic or talk in the room until a gap paused the bootees momentarily). But, now, versions older than 8.0 cannot be used in chat. If you try to "ignore anyone not on your list", you get stuck staring at a blank room. The only people you can see are those who are on your list, and the only people that can see you are those you have on your list. Some of the chat clients such as Zak, Y!mlite, and Halite offer better protection, if you know the correct settings after downloading, but the fact of the matter is, every time there is an upgrade made to improve the chances of protecting yourself against bootees, bootees figure a way around it. Booting is just a way for people who have nothing better to do with their time to feel like "big shots", so they are going to waste endless hours figuring out every boot protections' weaknesses and finding ways to use them to their advantage.

Answer: You will get varying answers on this question I am sure! The biggest complaint people have about the chat rooms is the Bots and some people that boot but there are chat programs you can use that will block the bots and stop the bootees. The 3 I use are called Y!Mlite , Y!Tunnel and Zak. I personally have made a lot of friends from all over the world by going to chat rooms. There are a lot of different Topic rooms to try out everything from Computers, games,hobbies, health music and romance. There are even Regional rooms from different countries from Asia to the UK that you can check out. Here is how to get to chat rooms. After you get logged into yahoo messenger look up at the top of it you will see Messenger , Contacts, Actions ,Help. Click on messenger then down about half way click on Yahoo! Chat and then Join room. That will open a new window with all the chat room categories which will be on the left side and the room listings will be on the right side. Lets say you want to go to a music room? you just find Music on the left side and click on it that will make all the available music rooms show up on the right side. Then maybe you want to try one of the Rock rooms,so just click on the little + sign and that will expand and show all the rooms that are under Rock. Double click on which ever room you want to go into. A small window will pop up with some numbers and letters that is called the catch screen, fill it out and hit enter. If for some reason that don't show up just look up at the top of the chat room window and you will see a big long blue colored link, click on that and it will open a web page catch screen for you to fill out. Fill it in hit enter or whatever it is and you will be officially in a chat room. If you want to change rooms just hit the Chat button at the top of the room window and repeat the selection process and join another room. Must be 18 or older to enter chat rooms! Hope this helps

Answer: Have you tried Gaim? It does Yahoo!, AIM, MAN, RIC, and a bunch of other stuff. I'd say that it's supported by the largest open source community at the moment. Question concerning Yahoo Chat Clients? The Yahoo Chat Client Y!Mlite. Whenever I block people/ bots, Threes this short clip of music that comes out each time. How do I turn off this Music and stop it from Playing ? Also, the font system isn't working right, everyone else tells me my font is so small when I log onto there, and I see it different from how other people see my font. How do I fix this as well ? Answer: You'll find problems like that is due to yahoo, if you get a second ID and lo gin you will see the posts perfectly fine, if they don't appear after you send them, yahoo's at fault... for example DHTML users can't see people who post in YACHT.. why? beats me, it's a yahoo problem NOT Y!mLite. As for the little music clip part, I have yet to figure that out. Some parts of Y!Mlite just either are not customizable or not user friendly. Y!mLite has a lot of bugs in it that have yet to be fixed.

Answer: Yahoo! no longer offers Yahoo! Chat 2.0 (YMlite). You cannot access Yahoo! chat rooms through Yahoo!'s site any longer. In order to enter chat rooms you can do two things. 1) Enter chat through Yahoo! Messenger. Once signed in, click on Messenger, click on Yahoo! Chat, click on Join a room... 2) Get a RD party chat client (I believe these programs are still working). Delayed Access To Yahoo Chatrooms? Over the past few days, I have been experiencing a longer time period before the a chat room window opens. Yahoo, Y!mlite, and Zak all load fast - and the room menus come up quickly as well .... however, after clicking on any room in the menu ... there is a much longer wait. What once was a mere second or two is now as much as a full minute. Have run 3 malware/spyware programs (clean) ... scan disk and def rag (ok) ... anti virus updated and scanned (clean) ... cleaned and def raged the registry .... dumped temp files and def raged memory, too ....... BUT still their is a longer delay. Thoughts - opinions - ideas - solutions - are all appreciated. Thanks.

Answer: Part of the problems is that chat rooms are full of bots which count against the maximum number allowed in. I go to only one room these days, and have been finding exactly the same problem as you are experiencing, but over probably 2 or 3 weeks now. I use Y Tunnel which has a 'room buster' function which has 10 tries at opening a room before giving up. That is returning both a 'room full' message and 'no reply from server' message. The later might explain that there are, indeed, yahoo problems. When, and if, I do get in, I receive constant messages 'you are already in this room'!

I just got home from work and tried to sign into chat using Y!mlite... it failed... tried again... guess what... failed... so I tried to go in through the Yahoo Messenger program... again it failed to log in... Anyone know what's going on? Is it a server issue or something? (am in Nor-Cal btw)
